The short version
- No account, no sign-up. The app never asks for your name or email.
- Everything you generate (numbers, passwords, tickets, QR codes) is created on your device and is never sent to me.
- The free version shows Google ads. You choose whether ads may be personalized and whether the app may track you.
- Quotes, jokes and quiz questions are loaded from free third-party services, which see your IP address like any website does.
- Anonymous usage statistics (which screens and actions are used) help me improve the app.
- I never sell your data. Buying Remove Ads turns ads off completely.
1. About this policy
Generator (the “app”) is built and maintained by Ariel Tkachenko, an independent developer (“I”, “me”). The app is free to download and use, and is supported by ads.
This policy explains what information the app collects, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
2. What stays on your device
The main features work entirely on your device, and their content is never sent to me or to anyone else:
- Random numbers, passwords and lottery tickets are generated locally. Password strength is also checked locally.
- QR codes. Text, Wi-Fi network names and passwords you enter are turned into a QR code on your device. They're never sent anywhere, and the app doesn't keep them after you leave the screen.
- Contacts. If you make a QR code from a contact, iOS lets you pick a single contact, and only that contact's details are placed in the QR code. The app can't browse your address book and never uploads contact details.
- Photos. If you add a logo to a QR code, only the image you choose is used. Saving a generated image adds it to your photo library. Nothing is uploaded.
- Settings, such as your preferred ranges and options, are stored on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, Apple syncs them to your other devices through your iCloud account; they're never sent to me. A QR logo you choose to keep for new codes stays on this device only.
If you share generated content, it goes only where you choose to send it, through the standard iOS share sheet.
3. Information collected
The app doesn't collect information that directly identifies you, such as your name, email address, phone number or precise location. It does collect the following technical and usage information:
Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics)
- Which screens you open and actions like “Generate”, “Share” or changing a setting. The screen and action are recorded, never what you generated.
- The app language, app version, device model, iOS version and approximate country (derived from your IP address)
- A random app-instance identifier, plus the device's advertising identifier only if you allow tracking
- Whether ads loaded and Remove Ads purchase events (never payment details)
Anonymous sign-in and online features (Firebase Authentication & Realtime Database)
- For these features, the app signs in anonymously. Firebase assigns a random user ID that isn't linked to your identity, email or Apple ID.
- Quiz statistics (how many questions you answered and how many were correct) are stored under that random ID so your score is kept.
- Lottery ticket counters. The app adds each generated ticket to shared totals (for example, how many “lucky” tickets have been generated overall). Only the totals are stored, not your tickets and nothing linked to you.
Quotes, jokes and quiz questions (third-party content services)
Quotes, jokes and quiz questions are available in English and Russian. They're loaded from free third-party services, depending on the app's language:
- Russian: quotes and quiz questions from randstuff.ru, jokes from shortiki.com
- English: quotes from ZenQuotes, jokes from JokeAPI, quiz questions from Open Trivia DB
When you open these screens, the app requests content from the service. Like any website, the service receives your IP address and basic request details with each request. In the Russian quiz, the answer you pick is also sent to randstuff.ru, which checks it; in English, answers are checked on your device. No other information about you is sent to these services.
In the app's other languages these screens are hidden, so nothing is loaded from these services.
4. Ads and tracking
The free version shows a banner ad from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect your IP address, device and app information, ad interactions and, if you allow it, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland and some US states). Where the law requires it, the app shows Google's consent form before any ads load. You can choose whether your data may be used for personalized ads. You can change your choice at any time from Privacy Settings in the app's menu.
- App Tracking Transparency. iOS asks whether the app may track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, the advertising identifier isn't shared and you'll see non-personalized ads. You can change this anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Remove Ads. If you buy Remove Ads, the app doesn't load the ad SDK's ads or show the tracking prompt at all.

5. In-app purchases
The optional Remove Ads purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. I don't receive your name, Apple ID or payment details. The app only checks with Apple whether the purchase is active on your account, so it can be restored on your other devices.
6. Third-party services
These services process data on the app's behalf, each under its own privacy policy:
| Service | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase | Google LLC | Analytics, anonymous sign-in, quiz stats and ticket totals |
| AdMob | Google LLC | Showing ads, consent management |
| App Store | Apple Inc. | In-app purchases; syncing your settings through iCloud |
| randstuff.ru | randstuff.ru | Russian quotes and quiz questions, checking Russian quiz answers |
| shortiki.com | shortiki.com | Russian jokes |
| ZenQuotes | ZenQuotes.io | Quotes in English |
| JokeAPI | Sv443 | Jokes in English |
| Open Trivia DB | Pixeltail Games | Quiz questions in English |
Google processes data on servers worldwide, including in the United States, under its standard data-protection safeguards.
8. Data retention
- Analytics data is deleted automatically after the retention period set in Firebase (at most 14 months).
- Quiz statistics are kept until you reset them in the app, which sets them to zero.
- Ticket totals aren't personal data and are kept indefinitely.
- Ad data is retained by Google as described in its privacy policy.
9. Security
Data sent to Firebase and Google is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and access to the Firebase project is restricted. However, no method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is 100% secure, so I can't guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights and choices
You're in control of what's collected:
- Personalized ads: change your choice from Privacy Settings in the app's menu (where available in your region).
- Tracking: turn it off in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Ads altogether: buy Remove Ads.
- Quiz statistics: reset them in the quiz screen.
- Everything: uninstalling the app stops all collection and discards its random identifiers.
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you also have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Because the app has no accounts and uses only random identifiers, I usually can't match stored data to a specific person. If you'd like to make a request, email me and I'll do my best to help within 30 days.
Legal basis (EEA/UK): Usage statistics and the online features are processed on the basis of my legitimate interest in running and improving the app. Personalized ads are shown only with your consent.
11. Children's privacy
The app isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact me and I'll delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time, for example when the app gains new features. Changes are posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date and take effect as soon as they're posted.
